- Library Tours: Show people around the library and help them find what they need.
- Assist with Special Events: Help with setup, greeting, and directing visitors.
- Computer/Technology Help: Assist with or teach basic computer skills.

- Adopt a shelf: Help shelf read books to keep them in the correct order on the shelves.

- If you are under age 18, you must have a parent or guardian sign your paper application.

Join the Friends of the Osceola Library
Friends of the Osceola Library, Inc. is a nonprofit organization of community members who volunteer their time and skills to help maintain and expand library special collections and services, e.g. provide magazine subscriptions.
Friends help to support the library in two basic ways — by raising funds and by providing strong advocacy for the Library within the community.
Friends’ contributions may include selling used books, attending Village Board meetings in support of our library, assisting with various other fundraisers, and serving at or participating in occasional library activities.
Friends of the Osceola Library, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by state and federal law.
Donate Used Materials
OPL accepts donations of books and AV materials that are in good condition. The library does not accept books with mold; condensed books, VHS, dictionaries, encyclopedias, or textbooks.
Donations of single copies may be given to staff in your library or placed in the book drop. A receipt for tax purposes is available when you come into the library to make your donation. Please contact the Library to discuss donations of larger collections.
The Library does not provide appraisals.
What happens to donated materials
Staff will determine whether the material will be added to the library collection or given to the Friends of the Osceola Library to be sold in a book sale to benefit the Library. Materials that contain outdated information about health, science, business, etc. will be recycled.
Once you donate an item, the gift becomes the property of the Library or the Friends of the Osceola Library. We are unable to return donated materials.
Value
By law, we cannot determine the value of a donation for tax purposes. We can supply you with a receipt that acknowledges the donation you made to the Library.
Complete a Community Service Requirement
Volunteer hours are available at OPL to fulfill a community service requirements.
It may take up to three weeks to process your request before you can begin your volunteer hours. Please allow enough time to complete your hours before the deadline.

- A library staff member will contact you.

Book Plates
The Friends of the Osceola Public Library invite you to be a part of the Discovery enter Collection in our new Library. A $20.00 gift will purchase a new book with your name on a beautiful book plate. Book Plates can be purchased at the Library or contact the Friends of the Osceola Public Library at friendsoftheosceolapubliclibrary@gmail.com.
